MASH wouldn’t be what it is today without the people of Twin Elephant, Poor Henry’s, and SubUrban. Let’s give back in their time of need.
Every community is as good as its restaurants, bars, and breweries — and the people who make these establishments feel like home.
MASH owes everything to the generosity of the hosts who have offered space for our meetings, served us beers, and rolled up their sleeves to help MASH succeed. We would simply not exist without Twin Elephant, Poor Henry’s, and SubUrban — and Cindy and Tim, Jesse, and Chris and their entire teams, the bartenders, servers, chefs, line cooks, and dishwashers who make the operations run, sometimes unnoticed.
The COVID-19 pandemic has forced our MASH meeting hosts to close, pivot their business models, and slim their staff until they may reopen to serve us once again — whenever that is (read: why restaurants are so fucked). That is why we are asking the MASH community to show a little love so that we may give back to those who have given to us.
We are launching the MASH Friends Relief Fund and setting a goal of $2,250 so that we may donate $750 each to MASH’s hosts.
We have spoken to Cindy and Tim, Jesse, and Chris, who are touched and pledged to distribute the funds to workers most in need of support. “I have a couple of great devoted servers we love and a couple of kitchen staff who are currently eating at soup kitchens because they are unable to collect unemployment,” one told us.
We know that not everyone can give — that MASH members themselves are facing hardship. If you cannot give, we appreciate you just the same. And if you find yourself in dire straits, please let a MASH board member discretely know so we can mobilize our community to help.
We are asking those that can to give what they can — to cover the meals and tips you would have spent if not for COVID-19 and this era of social distancing.
