August: How to Win National Homebrewer of the Year

oskar2

MASH welcomes Oskar Norlander, one of the trio of brewers whose Gueuze won Gold and netted the team the coveted title of National Homebrewers of the Year, to our meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18 at Nicole’s Ten in Randolph.

Oskar, his brother Erik and friend Peter Salmond brewed the best of show beer entered in the competition, beating out over 7,000 entries submitted to the National Homebrew Competition — the worlds’s largest and most prestigious homebrew competition.

The Gueuze is the product of a four-year solera system, aging rotating batches of lambic in a California zinfandel barrel. The barrel came from the Norlander’s father in California and the hops were grown by Peter’s father in Portland, Oregon.
