Join us for our June Club Only Competition featuring Trappist Beer (Category 26 in the 2015 BJCP Categories). All MASH Members are welcome to bring 64 ounces of their home brewed Trappist Beer to be judged in the best of show format.
Points will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners towards the MASH Homebrewer of the Year Award. Feel free to bring homebrew and outside food. The tap room will be serving beer for our enjoyment.
Trappist is a protected legal appellation, and cannot be used commercially except by genuine Trappist monasteries that brew their own beer. However, we can use it to describe the type or styles of beer produced by those breweries and those who make beers of a similar style. Trappist type beers are all characterized by very high attenuation, high carbonation through bottle conditioning, and interesting (and often aggressive) yeast character.
